Tested for Long-Term Reliability
Durability tests were carried out in accordance with internal Candy testing protocols as described in report Laric-2026-05 [1]. These tests are designed to simulate usage conditions equivalent to typical household usage during a period of 20 years based on defined usage assumptions and technical validation:
- The test cycles reflect average consumer use, including both intensive and typical usage scenarios, and are carried out using standard textile loads representative of everyday cotton laundry, as well as under typical domestic water supply conditions. Installation is performed in accordance with the user manual to ensure realistic operating conditions.
- Long-term reliability is assessed through extended operating cycles under varying usage scenarios, including different temperatures, load levels, and electrical conditions. Additional testing covers environmental influences (e.g. temperature and humidity), as well as repeated mechanical and functional use (e.g. spinning, door operation, controls, and drying programmes for washer-dryers) to simulate realistic long-term household use.
These tests do not represent a warranty or guarantee that the finished products will operate for a specific number of years, nor do they exclude the possibility that repairs or maintenance may be required during the product’s lifetime. Actual product lifetime may vary depending on installation conditions, usage patterns, maintenance and environmental factors.
All duration equivalences and usage assumptions referenced below are derived from the internal technical report Laric-2026-05 [1] and supporting literature cited therein, including, among others, studies and reports on average consumer behaviour as well as publications issued by the European Commission and the Fraunhofer Institute (see also references [2-6] below).
Washing machines
Candy subjected washing machines, together with their key components, to extended endurance testing under controlled laboratory conditions. Machines intended to be used for laundry washing purposes are tested according to Candy internal standards. Full disclosure of the testing standard cannot be here provided for confidentiality of information. All machines sold in EU market need to pass on the acceptance criteria described in this standard before start of production.
Based on the analysis set out in report Laric-2026-05 [1], which relies on published data regarding average consumer usage, 5000 wash cycles carried out during the development phase on washing machines correspond to more than 20 years of average usage in Europe (average of 220 wash cycles per year corresponding to 4.2 times wash cycles per week).
The conversion of test cycles into equivalent years is based on usage assumptions reported in the Laric report, which also references international standards data indicating 220 washing cycles per year [2].
